and I’ll have listened (at least partially) to all 309 entries in the “Warrior” remix contest. There was a huge amount of mediocrity there, but there was also a nice bit of cool tracks that made it worthwhile to listen through them.

If you’d like to help me out by listening to/voting for my entry (which I hope isn’t mediocre), here’s the widget:

I had fun with this remix. I used FamiTracker to make all of the 8-bit sounds. Then, I added some extra vocals and an electric and acoustic guitar.

Also, if you really like it, please reblog! Voting ends October 4th!

Ladies and gents, please do me the honor of voting for my remix of Kimbra’s “Settle Down”. By doing so, you will help me in my efforts to continue to make music for all to enjoy!

One vote per person. So, please pass this along to everyone!

The way it works is that after the entry period, there’s a voting period. One vote per email address. The top ten voted remixes will then be judged by Kimbra, as well as some others, I think. (The rules didn’t state who the other judges would be, if there even would be.)

So, I’m going to need everyone to vote for me when the time comes (mid-June). I’ll post links and all that jazz when it’s time. Thanks, in advance, for your support! You’ve given me loads of it already by liking my stuff.

"Settle Down (Mr. Jotz Remix)" - Kimbra

VOTING HAS STARTED! GO HERE TO VOTE FOR MY REMIX:

http://www.indabamusic.com/opportunities/kimbra-settle-down-remix-contest/submissions/107721

For the past two days, instead of doing the multitude of things that I should’ve been doing, I decided to try my hand at doing a remix! This is the first time I’ve ever done anything like this. I’m doing it for a contest on Indaba Music.

I figured that most people who do remixes just go for a dance mix type thing or pump up the beats and slap rap over it. I wanted to go as far away from that as possible. So, I only used Kimbra’s lead vocals and some of the backing vocals and added in a bunch of live instrument stuff (i.e. flutes, guitar, and various beat boxing).

Let me know what you think of it and if there’s anything glaringly wrong that needs to be fixed. It’s best listened to with headphones to get the full stereophonic effect.

Here’s the original, if you’d like to compare.
