Tomorrow starts the “treat writing like it’s my job” phase of my life.
I’m going to spend at least 6 hours a day, 5 days a week not scrolling through Tumblr or watching Netflix or Hulu or YouTube or TV or my DVDs or playing video games or reading comics and just stinkin’ write.
What will I be writing? The time will be split up between writing stand-up, comics, music, and web videos. Because of the diversity of the creative activities, I doubt that I’ll have the time to get bored. I’ll most likely spend more than the alloted 6 hours, but I don’t want to give myself unrealistic expectations.
I need structure and something that is simple and achievable. 6 hours seems right in my head. Because I don’t have a “normal” job, I need to establish some parameters, else I’ll just be wasting time, like I do most days that I don’t have a scheduled obligation. I blasted through 12 episodes of “The IT Crowd” yesterday alone and didn’t accomplish much otherwise.
Tomorrow’s writing will mostly be focused on stand-up because I’ll be polishing off a different 5-minute bit that I haven’t been performing at the open mics thus far. After I finish writing this, I’ll start on the structure of the bit until bedtime (an hour or so). Then, it’s up at 8am to start my new journey as a full-time writer.
G’night, internet world. You won’t see me as much in the coming weeks, but I’ll still be around from time to time.
