I think I’m only going to do two paid open mics a week.
Doing more than that would drain my already limited food budget far too quickly, relegating me to oatmeal, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and beans and rice for a while.
As far as I can see, this is going to be my open mic schedule:
Mondays, 5:30pm, Broadway Comedy Club, 318 W. 53rd St., New York, NY 10019
Tuesdays, 11:30pm, UCB East, 153 E. 3rd St., New York, NY 10019
or
Tuesdays, 11pm, The PIT, 123 E. 24th St., New York, NY
Fridays, 5:30pm, Broadway Comedy Club, 318 W. 53rd St., New York, NY 10019
Tuesdays will probably alternate. This Tuesday will be UCB East.
Tonight, I’m going to try the 5pm open mic at eGarage, 44-02 23rd St., Studio 104, Long Island City, NY 11101. I don’t think I’ll be able to do this one again for a while because I’ve got a weekend job starting next week that’ll conflict, unless they’re cool and slot me for the end so I can just barely make it.
I believe admission for audience members is free to all of these shows, no drink minimum. So, feel free to stop by and watch me work out new bits of comedy stuff.
I might try to do a “bringer show” in the next couple of months to try and get some regular professional spots going, but I know I need a good bit more practice before then.
